Abstract

Nanocoolant based on palm oil derivatives is the latest discovery in cooling applications carried out on 1300kVA generators. Cooling fluid (nanocoolant) which is added with liquid metal elements in the cooling medium is intended to conduct heat from the heat source (diesel) to be taken outside the system and speed up the cooling cycle. The method used by researchers is experimental, where the nanocoolant has a composition of 30% palm oil derivatives and 70% distilled water. Adding nanoparticles to the cooling media is 1% of the entire cooling media mixture. The nano particles used are TiO2, SiO2, and Al2O3. The results of a palm oil derivative-based nanocoolant provide benefits in the form of a high boiling point, low freezing point, very significant corrosive rate (does not corrode) and uses natural and sustainable materials.
